Hello there, and welcome to Unreal, a podcast about Irish history, stories and tradition.

From ancient bards, to early manuscripts to the ways we share our stories today, Ireland has always been an island stuffed to the brim with tales and folklore. Whether you learn them at home by the fireside, through books at school or in your own study, whether you are a teller, a collector or simply a listener, the tales and traditions of Ireland will leave their mark on you, as they did on me.

In this podcast, I’ll be talking about the origins of some of Ireland’s most famous myths and folklore, and taking a fresh look at exciting legends and history which have become almost forgotten in centuries past.

So if you’re interested in learning the history behind how tales of Fionn Mac Cumhaill, the Swans of Lir and other Irish myths came to be told, or if you’d like to hear some new, less well-known folklore and history, subscribe to Unreal, where I’ll be releasing fortnightly episodes, starting next Sunday.

We’ll speak again soon, I hope, and until then, go néirí agus an bóthar leat.
